Dongfang Meiren from Thailand

Dongfang Meiren from Thailand

It is believed that the birthplace of Dongfang Meiren is Taiwan. According to legend, the first "Champagne Oolong" was produced there. But, despite this, its production can now be found in other countries. Quality "Oriental Beauty" will depend not only on the variety and the crop but also on the tea master.

The uniqueness of this tea is not only in its visual characteristics, but also in its taste and the process of its production.

Dongfang Meiren is made of selected tea leaves that have been bitten by small leafhoppers. At the site of the bite, the tea leaf juice is released, which causes a fermentation sheet to occur long before harvest. At the final stage of production, the tea has an exquisite aroma with a honey-sweet and fruity aftertaste.

Not so long ago, a similar tea was made in the North of Thailand, in the mountains of Doi Mae Salong, by a Taiwanese tea master, exclusively for export to Taiwan.

How to Prepare Dongfang Meiren

  • Water temperature: 80-100 °C / 176 - 212 °F.
  • Housewares: we don't recommend using paper or plastic.
  • Amount of tea and volume: 1-2 tsp per 150 - 200 ml / 5 - 6.7 oz.
  • Number of infusions: 3-6.

  1. Place the tea leaves into the teapot and pour water into it
  2. The first filling lasts a few seconds, and the water must be drained, thus washing the tea leaves.
  3. Pour water into the teapot again
  4. Leave the mixture for at least 45-60 seconds*
  5. Drain the water out of a teapot, and your tea is ready to serve

* Increase the time of the next brewing for 10-20 seconds.

Enjoy your tea! Tea Village Team :).
